Anna+Jay’s Rainy Day Avondale Engagement Session

You wouldn’t think a cold, rainy Saturday morning in October would be the makings for the perfect engagement session, but I have to tell you, I couldn’t be more pleased with the way Anna and Jay’s rainy Avondale session turned out.

Anna and I attended the University of Montevallo together and I was thrilled when she called to tell me she was marrying the man of her dreams early in 2014.  These two have spent many a date night grabbing beers at our favorite local brewery, so there was no hesitation when I suggested we spend the morning at the park and end our session grabbing a few tasty brews!

We played outside in the rain all morning… I’m not sure I have ever had so much fun doing so! Then after a quick change into some dry clothes we headed across the street to Avondale Brewery.  Having booked their reception at Avondale we were granted early access to the brewery, along with HGTV who was there to film an upcoming episode of House Hunters…This was so cool, and you could very possibly see this stunning couple make the tv debut on the Birmingham Alabama episode of House Hunters!

I had the best time hanging out with Anna and Jay, and can not wait to see these two tie the knot in just a few months!

Enjoy!

Heather+Nate’s Sloss Furnace Engagement Session

This is my absolute favorite time of year! The weather is perfect, the leaves are turning, and I am so busy that I’m finding it hard to distinguish which way is up! I think I have a grasp on it, but if you run into me in the next few weeks and I’m talking in incomplete sentences and have my laptop’s keyboard imprinted on my forehead, just know I REALLY love what I do!

I am beyond excited to FINALLY be sharing Heather and Nate’s urban engagement session with you! Heather is the program director at my favorite Birmingham landmark, Sloss Furnace, so it was only fitting that we started there. It was a perfectly overcast day, which makes for some seriously stunning light, and with Heather’s insider knowledge we were able to get this shoot in just before the “weener’s”, that’s Halloweeners, as dubbed by the Sloss crew, took over the furnace and transformed it into one of Birmingham’s creepiest haunted houses!

I was so thankful that Janice, Heather’s wonderful mother, attended the shoot. She is probably the sweetest lady I know, and proved to be the best assistant, and comedic relief a girl could ask for! I had so much fun with this stunning couple, and can’t wait for the wedding in May!

Hope you enjoy!

I simply loved being apart of this wonderful day and could not have done it without my super talented friend Mary Katherine Morris  being there to help me capture it! Hope you enjoy!

Hooray for Gorgeous Wedding Days!!

I interrupt your regularly scheduled catch-up blog, to bring you this very brief but  important announcement….Kayla Joy Jones and John Michael Floyd are getting married today!! I just had to share a few of my favorite images of this gorgeous couple from their engagement session last fall…Enjoy!

The Olson’s Post Wedding Cahaba River Gorgeousness!!!

I’m so so glad that these two were up for meeting me after they returned from their honeymoon!  As I divulged in The Olson’s wedding blog, it rained the day of, pushing our timeline back and while it provided for the sweetest soft light for the ceremony, we were left somewhat in the dark for pictures afterwards, which in my opinion, worked in our favor.  Being the avid outdoors couple that these two are, we landed on doing a shoot on the Cahaba.  Laura and Tyler borrowed a canoe, and we took to the river…I couldn’t be more please with the results. Let me know what you think?  Enjoy!!

The Olson’s

I have been dying to share these images with you since the day I shot them, and am so ashamed at how long it has taken me to do so! Not only am I in love with all of these images, I fell in Love with Laura and Tyler and was so grateful to be apart of this amazing celebration of love!!   Laura and Tyler are avid outdoorsmen, gorgeous inside and out, extremely kind, vibrant, inspired, and they had a crafty, DIY, laid back wedding that is something I aspire to create for my own big day. The details were so personal, down to the fact that Sophie and Max (Laura and Tyler’s sweet pups) were very involved in their gorgeous wedding! I will always have a special place in my heart for this wedding, and this couple, and want to thank one fabulous Wes Gandy for introducing us!! Okay, okay, onto the pictures…Hope you enjoy!

So we wrangled a canoe and took to the Cahaba for a stunning session in the water.  Those are up next, so check back soon!!

Compere Part Deux…

As promised in the Comperes Pt. 1, here is how the rest of the evening went…

We all welcomed the sun setting on that sweltering day in June, and not only for a little reprieve from the heat, but the sun setting meant one more thing…PARTY TIME!! That’s right, as the sun went down that day, friends and family gathered to surprise the guest of honor at the Oaks in Centreville, for what proved to be quite the celebration!

The Comperes Pt.1

I can’t express to you how excited I was to hear from Jennifer and Collins late last spring.  We were way overdue for a session, and every time we get together, it’s at an amazing location, and we walk away with some of my all time favorite images. This session was no exception, just check out some of these gorgeous shots…

Okay, so as the title of this blog suggests this is only the beginning of our time spent together, that sweltering day in June; because in all honesty, Collins and Jennifer REALLY called me to capture Collin’s mother’s 70th surprise birthday party! It was a fantastic evening filled with great friends and family gathered together to celebrate one wonderful lady.  Stay tuned, The Comperes part deux is next!
